As if goats weren’t funny enough (funny looking, funny sounding, funny acting, etc..), this is a video of goats that actually faint when they get scared. Very funny.
The fainting goat is a very special breed of goat whose muscles lock for several seconds any time the goat is startled or scared. Don’t worry. This is painless phenomenon, but still generally results in the animal collapsing and falling to the ground. The fainting is actually caused by Myotonia Congenita, a genetic disorder, which is hereditary.
The younger goats seem to suffer the most from this affliction, stiffening and fall over, while older goats have learnd to spread their legs for stability or lean against something sturdy when startled. Older goats often continue to run about in an awkward, stiff-legged shuffle.
These Fainting goats tend to be smaller than the standard breed of goat, generally around 1.5 to 2 feet tall and can weigh anywhere from 50 to 150 pounds. Other features of Fainting Goats include large prominent eyes, a variety of hair colors and lengths (short and long).
